Summary of Job Duties:The HR Specialist in the College of Education and Health Professions provides human resources services and support in the college. The HR Specialist is responsible for leading recruitment and retention efforts of assigned classifications including advising and consulting with managers on the development and classification of positions, assisting in writing and editing job descriptions, implementing advertising plans and facilitating the candidate selection process. The HR Specialist works in conjunction with the College of Education and Health Professions Human Resource Director. The HR Specialist will assist the HR Director in processing of payroll.
The HR Specialist will serve as the first contact for employees and supervisors regarding employee relations issues and interpretation and advice on HR policies and procedures. In addition, the HR Specialist will be a subject matter expert in Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) business processes, collaborating as a team to effectively meet HR needs of the college. This position provides support for the Workday HCM system through training and customer service and will be responsible for administering assigned HCM business processes and other duties as assigned.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
At least two years of full-time, progressive experience administering human resource programs in staffing, employment, and/or employee relations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative experience in higher education
Experience using an HCM system such as Workday.
SHRM, HRCI, or other HR certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources
Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of organizational management, payroll, benefits, and budget processes
Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and documents.
Ability to interpret and apply state and agency/institution policies and procedures governing personnel.
Ability to research and analyze data.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others.
Ability to communicate to a diverse group.
