Job Summary

This job involves working as an engineer in the Distribution Technical Support group within the Gas Planning & Design organization, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. Based on the value of the Gas utility infrastructure, the number of customers (over 1.8 million) served and total Gas sales (over 158,800 MMCF) places PSE&G Gas Transmission & Distribution in the top ten of all Gas Utilities in the United States. The position will be based out of Sewaren.

Areas of responsibility will include the following: Conduct reviews utilizing engineering principles and practices and adapting them to the assigned discipline of technical support of piping design, materials, procedures, standards and Operator Qualification. Ensure regulatory compliance and be familiar with applicable internal and external standards, state and federal codes. Coordinate and review work of engineers and technicians assigned to the discipline. Be able to read, write and interpret advanced technical documents. Partner with Gas Construction, District and Division personnel in solving complex engineering situations and abnormal conditions. Act as technical consultant to external and internal clients. Perform material failure studies, hands-on testing and data analysis. Expand knowledge of PSE&G operations through Company development programs and on-the-job training. Oversee special projects involving engineering and field personnel, consultants, and contractors. Provide technical assistance in implementing special programs and new processes. Provide technical support and problem resolution during system activities.

• B.S. in Mechanical/Industrial/Civil Engineering or equivalent degree
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
• Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
• Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
• Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed
• Strong computer skills in MS Office applications
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
• Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.
• Candidate must be able to interface effectively with a diverse organization and have excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and must maintain and apply a working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls. Must possess a valid U.S. driving license and maintain a safe driving record.

Desired:
• Experience with gas utility facilities e.g. pipelines, regulators, meters.
• Experience in working on gas facility designs, layout, and system modeling analyses.
• Advanced technical degree/training/certification, Six Sigma, EIT or P.E license.
• Familiarity with gas utility best practices, Federal, NJ Administrative, and ASME pressure piping codes and Company tariff.
