Job Summary

PSEG is seeking a summer intern to work with the Trading Operations Risk team.

The Trading Operations Risk team is responsible for

  • Trading confirmations including oversight of physical and financial transaction records in PSEG’s ETRM (Energy Trading & Risk Management System, Dodd Frank (and other) regulatory reporting, price index reporting.
  • Facilitate all forward and spot commodity price data flows into the ETRM system used as PSEG’s system of record for valuation of physical and financial hedges.

This position will be hybrid, which means you’ll be assigned to the PSEG HQ office and given the flexibility to work remotely.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support daily counterparty, broker, and exchange confirmation validation.
  • Prepare and/or review exception reports, compliance reports as applicable; review with Senior Analyst for accuracy.
  • Supporting the completion of daily and monthly activities not limited to:
  • Price reconciliation processes, monitoring of ISO auction results (Capacity & Financial Transmission Rights)
  • Review of price sources and price formulas
  • Review of commodity forward and spot price analytics (e.g. charts, tables, etc.)
  • Work with internal and external departments to answer commodity forward market price related inquiries
  • Creation of ad hoc position and valuation (profit and loss) reports
  • Daily support of commodity data feeds for forward and spot prices using PSEG’s commodity data management system and energy trading & risk management system.
  • Assist in process review and documentation
  • Responsible for gathering data and documenting information regarding various business and technical processes.
  • Assist in the automation of business processes.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate (s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Computer Science, or related field. Candidate must have completed sophomore/junior level coursework by the start of the internship program to be considered. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education, which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to effectively communicate (both orally and in writing), with clients, partners, staff, remote colleagues, and others.
Good work ethics and ability to work well with others.
Proven ability exercise sound judgment, ask questions and be open to the input and decisions of others.


Preferred Skills:

Computer, Internet and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Understanding of business analysis principles, processes, techniques, and workflows a plus.
Ability to write business requirement documents and create workflow diagrams a plus.
Intermediate (or above) programming skills or experience in one or more of the following: (Java, Python, SQL, JavaScript, .NET, C#, C/C++, Perl, XML, JSON, UML, PL/SQL, R, Shell scripts)
3.3 GPA

All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer period and as business needs warrant. We are targeting: Currently enrolled students (must be enrolled at the commencement of the internship program) Housing, transportation, immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
