Job Summary

This position resides in the Asset Strategy Department of the Asset Management & Reliability Organization. Develop and implement policy and long-term strategic mission plans for the repair, replacement and maintenance of transmission and distribution plant assets. Develop strategic long-range asset management focus on electric distribution, substation and transmission equipment by emphasizing; risk and gap analysis, reliability centered maintenance, life-cycle cost techniques and financial and operational metrics to improve and achieve performance measures. Develop asset risk failure models for material condition replacement strategies. Guide SME's to develop specifying strategies, plans, and standards for their assigned Asset classes. Ensure Material Condition (life cycle) strategies are maintained and equipment is replaced based on these strategies so as to maintain a high level of system reliability. Responsibilities include developing and analyzing data to support and recommend changes to the capital and maintenance budgets associated with the reliability improvement programs (i.e., Distribution and Transmission Tree Trim Programs, Cable Replacement Program, Transmission & Substation Reliability Programs, etc.). Perform studies and analyses relating to the reliability of the Electric Transmission, Substation & Distribution Systems and their components. Provide governance and oversight during establishment of data quality metrics and reporting so key information required to allow the T&D management teams to accomplish their goals is provided. Partner with key stakeholders to ensure proper use of system and accurate reporting of assets. Self-directed, with a broad knowledge of the utility industry. Exhibit a high-level of initiative for setting strategic focus and vision and the ability to make business decisions in a fast paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with peers within the Asset Management, T&D, and Planning organizations to establish and execute a long term Asset Strategy Plan.
  • Accountable for developing Asset risk and lifecycle strategies, Asset Health Indexing, Asset Condition & Criticality, and Preventive / Predictive Maintenance strategies.
  • Accountable for annual test & Inspect O&M work plan input, annual replacement capital work plan input, asset standards, and decisions on asset replacements.
  • Lead and provide strategic direction to inside plant & outside plant SMEs for specifying strategies, plans and standards for their assigned Asset classes, and in alignment with T&D organization capital portfolio strategic objectives.
  • Provide innovative solutions to improve electric reliability.
  • Lead the development of asset strategies and policies as they relate to asset health.
  • Oversee the implementation and use of a new Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS).

Job Specific Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or related field
  • At least 10 years Utility experience, with at least 5 years relevant experience in T & D
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Electric Delivery business process and supporting applications
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a high performance culture
  • Proven high level management skills in coaching and facilitating business competency
  • Communication Skills: oral, written and presentation; ability to effectively communicate at all levels
  • Proven ability to interface effectively across all levels of management.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of seeking out project related information from Project Stakeholders.
  • Capable of making presentations to project stakeholders and Management.
Preferred:
  • MS in Engineering and/or Professional Engineers license
  • MBA or advanced management training.
  • Experience with CMMS, DWMS, SAP (FICO and PS) and GIS.
