HJF is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator (Suicide Prevention Program) to support the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS) located at the Rockledge B Office in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to CSTS.

The Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS) is one of the nation’s oldest and most highly regarded, academic-based organizations dedicated to advancing trauma-informed knowledge, leadership and methodologies. The Center’s work addresses a wide scope of trauma exposure from the consequences of combat, operations other than war, terrorism, natural and humanmade disasters, and public health threats as well as risk and protective factors associated with suicidal behaviors. CSTS is a part of our nation’s federal medical school, Uniformed Services University (USU), and its Department of Psychiatry. These affiliations represent the Center’s history, mission and future directions as a major contributor to our country’s understanding of the impact of trauma and the advancement of trauma-informed care. The Department has active research programs in the Basic and Clinical Sciences and Neurosciences. In addition to intramural research projects, the Department maintains active research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Science Foundation, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Air Force. The department has ongoing collaborations with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, is sponsor of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress and provides psychiatry residency training through its affiliations with Walter Reed Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center and Malcolm Grow Air Force Medical Center and the National Capital Area Graduate Medical Education Consortium.

The incumbent will perform a wide range of administrative/project coordinator duties for the Principal Investigator. Work assignments are complex with competing deadlines and considerable judgment is required in resolving problems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project coordination across the components of the Suicide Prevention Program portfolio. (20%)
  2. Serves as the liaison between the CSTS team and external partnering organizations and consultants/collaborators, including meeting planning and coordination and resource identification and dissemination. (20%)
  3. Writes and implements the Standard Operating Procedures for the Suicide Prevention Program. Assesses program implementation trends, identifying gaps inhibiting the ability of the program to effectively achieve key outcomes and milestones. Keeps abreast of policies, guidance relevant to the program and disseminates information accordingly. (15%)
  4. Serves as the managerial point of contact for Principal Investigator, and acts as representative for PI, when requested. Provides administrative support to PI. (15%)
  5. Contributes to the development of concepts, strategies, practices and procedures that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. Supports website products and translation of educational and consultation materials for dissemination. (10%)
  6. Assists in the resolution of program issues through the monthly reviews and triangulation of data and program specific work plans established by the Principal Investigator. Supports short- and long-range budget plans, in collaboration with Sr. Finance Manager and program team. (10%)
  7. Conducts regular quality checks on programs to ensure alignment government requirements. Revisits progress towards strategies and makes changes as necessary to the programs when needed. (5%)
  8. Prepares travel including international/military for program team. (5%)
  9. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Administrative office, budget preparation and monitoring, and grammatical skills needed. Excellent and effective communication skills with a diverse group of people. Previous experience with the military medical system or DoD experience is strongly preferred.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in communications, public health or related degree preferred.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum 3-5 years of experience required.

Work Environment: This job takes place in a typical office setting.

Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid work environment with flexibility to telework a few days per week.

Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
