SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Senior Facilities Planner/Designer (ToW) position in Facilities Planning, Design and Construction is to evaluate the use of MDACC's physical facilities and provide effective utilization of space and interiors resources as it relates to the new Transformation of Work (ToW) programming and planning initiatives for FPS to track and maintain consistency across all projects and spaces. Provide support to our Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Institutional project teams with ToW guidelines that support our on-site, hybrid, and remote employees that help define project scopes, preliminary budget estimates, and program descriptions in support of project development and implementation. Contributes to the creation and refinement of institutional standards and participates in Strategic/Facilities Planning efforts including larger and more complex projects.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Program Leader/Liaison - Customer Interaction/Subject Matter Expertise, Leads all Transformation of Work (ToW) programming and planning initiatives for FPS to track and maintain consistency across all projects and spaces. Evaluates space requests, supports Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Institutional project teams with ToW guidelines that support our on-site, hybrid, and remote employees. Partners with our Human Resources Director, Workplace, Culture & Infrastructure, and Strategic Facilities Planning teams to program and plan existing and future spaces. Further develops and interprets ToW guidelines, and implements standards for new and existing spaces. Communicates change management and shared space needs to customer, HR and FPS. Provides clarity when modifying ISPFG space and furniture standards. This position will act as a change agent to the institution and will be well-versed in the Institution's Master Framework strategy. Interprets people data in conjunction with ToW metrics and space guidelines to develop space programs and layouts for ToW.

Programming/Planning - Facilities Programming and Planning. Efforts include the development of large scale, complex space programs, conceptual floor plans, and Pre-Design reports. Participation in Department or Division Strategic and Facilities Planning efforts.

Procurement/Installation/Standards Furniture and Equipment Planning, Procurement and Installation, including furniture and equipment inventories, floor plans, budgets, requisitions and schedules, with minimal supervision. Obtains all necessary approvals. Design Standards Creation, Coordination and Compliance including creation of finish schedules, drawing/submittal reviews, and variance submissions. Participation in the creation and refinement of standards programs. Consults with architects, project managers, engineers and staff regarding building codes, policies, guidelines and regulations (NIH, AALAC, IBC, NFPA, ADA, etc.)v

Space Assignment/Utilization Leads Maintenance and Validation of Space Assignment/Utilization, Confirms accurate occupancy records, Conducts surveys/assessments as necessary.

Document Management - Document Management including written reports and project deliverables, issue logs, and key/milestone document management. Leads the creation, refinement, and utilization of standard templates. Participation in the creation and refinement of standard templates and regulatory related reports.

Education

Required: Associate's degree with major course work in Interior Design, Space Planning, Architecture, Science and/or Clinical discipline.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree with major course work in Interior Design, Space Planning, Architecture, Science and/or Clinical discipline.

Experience

Required: Six years of experience in commercial interior/architectural design, facilities/equipment planning and/or project management. With preferred degree, four years experience required.
