In this role, you will be an integral part of the UHG Corporate Benefits team and report to the Vice President, Corporate Benefits. You will develop and implement tools to drive improved decision making and business performance by providing executive insights and key trends to the broader UHG Corporate Benefits Team, including the H&W and Financial Fitness Strategy & Design teams and the Health Transformation and Innovation team.
You will collaborate and coordinate with the teams to translate business objectives and challenges into analytics projects, prioritize competing priorities, share best practices, and deliver analytics and reporting of key business trends to the Corporate Benefits Team, members of the UHC and Optum account teams and other key leaders and stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Utilize internal and external data to identify opportunities to improve internal Benefit Plan designs and Well Being initiatives
- Simplify complex data into actionable insights.
- Discover and communicate meaningful patterns in data and provide context, insights and analytics.
- Develop Business Intelligence & Dashboards.
- Proactive engagement with internal (e.g., strategy; administration, compliance, finance, people analytics, Optum Labs) and/or external stakeholders (e.g., vendors) to determine key success factors
- Partner with stakeholders and data partners to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization.
- Interpret the results of data analyses and develop appropriate conclusions and recommendations to help guide people strategy and decision-making.
- Compile presentations to effectively synthesize and communicate results and implications of data findings and trends.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact (e.g., financial; quality of care, medical trend) of initiatives and plan performance
- Receive, monitor, evaluate and utilize relevant information resources (e.g., on-line sources; claims data, industry surveys/benchmarking, medical journals; research data, industry literature) for the Design & Strategy/Health Transformation & Innovation teams
- Provide detail on plan performance and any initiatives (eg Advocate programs, Orthopedic support, diabetes care etc)
- Provide input and analysis on plan design and associated cost models, including subsidies, efficiency factors and actuarial values (healthcare economics and actuary)
- Provide insight into claim and omnichannel data
- Partner with the broader benefits team to oversee and monitor the fringe budget
Priorities will include:
- Develop detailed analytics using claims and financial experience through the data warehouse and other sources to support plan design and ongoing benefit strategy across all benefit programs
- Provide key data insights on UHG’s rewards program to improve engagement
- Use key insights related to health trends of our workforce by condition, job function, location and other factors which help drive creation of new programs or assess current programs.
- Responsible for overseeing and managing annual strategic planning including monitoring, resourcing, and ongoing measurement
- Responsible for overseeing and managing the medical contribution strategy and annual medical rate setting process
- Conduct ongoing analyses of benefit programs and services to determine success through outcomes and ROI
- Establish detailed program participation and financial reporting for tracking and reporting purposes

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience using conceptual data analytics to formulate hypotheses, determine assumptions to test, and interpret data / results
- 5+ years of work experience analyzing and interpreting data to provide insights
- 5+ years of consulting experience with customers and influencing leaders
- Expert Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience in dashboard development (Tableau, Domo, Power BI, Excel)
- Ability to raw data sets into themes and action plans
- Solid data acumen, including the ability to identify trends, anomalies and points requiring additional investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Healthcare industry knowledge
- Expert proficiency in statistical techniques
- Familiarity with Benefit Plan Design
- Consulting / client facing / client management experience
- Understanding of UnitedHealth Group business

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
