The Associate Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and maintaining a positive customer experience while performing pre - registration, registration, scheduling, and business office functions. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Be able to interact in a friendly, professional manner with a wide range of patients, operations staff, physicians, and other departments within the Excela Health system. Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure is essential. Also, must be able to function effectively in an environment where it is necessary to perform several tasks simultaneously, and where interruptions are frequent.
Position will be primary outpatient with occasionally with a total of 40 hours per week. Ability to work an 8-hour shift. Hours can range Monday - Saturday 6:00am EST - 6:00pm EST. This position is located in our office at 8775 Norwin Ave, Irwin, PA 15642
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages patient placement and bed board functions
- Contacts insurance carrier(s) to obtain all information necessary for the successful billing of 3rd party payers (coordination of benefits, benefit coverage / limits, co - pay / deductible amounts, authorization, pre - certification and referral requirements etc.
- Re - verifies insurance of recurring patients
- Performs financial assessments and determines patient’s responsibility
- Advises patient of all financial obligations
- Communicates balance amounts, deposits and point of service payments
- Prepares charts, registration forms, patient address or graph plates, etc.
- Forwards required items to nursing unit / clinic / ancillary department
- Answers telephone, maintains files, sorts mail and keeps inventory of supplies
- Informs manager of all activities, needs and problems
- Assists with data collection
- Deals with physicians and other customers
- Coordinates expiation documentation and manages patient valuables
- Performs related duties as required

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- Ability to work Monday - Saturday daylight between hours of 6:00am EST - 6:00pm EST and assist in the evening as needed 24/7 this include weekends and holidays
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of admissions, scheduling, or business office experience
- Experience with Medical Terminology
- Proficient Keyboard Skills measured at 30+ WPM
- Knowledge of Payor / Insurance Benefit
- Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment
- Basic Math and Keyboard Proficiency
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate with all members of the health care team
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi - task and prioritize assignments
