Quest Diagnostics is looking for a Junior Agile Coach to join the Strategy and Digital Transformation group to coach and mentor the Scrum and Kanban teams in scaled Agile environment. This role will champion the journey of multiple teams as they pivot to new ways of working and increased agility.

This role will be responsible for coaching one or more Agile Teams. In addition, this position is required to ensure effective sprint/iteration executions and the ongoing maturity towards high performing, self-organizing teams. Responsible for working at a tactical level aligning teams and their sprint goals to organizational outcomes. Support and foster collaborative partnerships required for training and coaching; develop relationships that support team agility as the team’s mature.

Responsibilities:
-Serve as a SME for Agile mindset and practices that promote high performing Agile teams.
-Identify common Agile anti-patterns and coach teams toward alternatives that promote a higher level of agility.
-Coach Product Owners (PO) on aligning team level backlogs to the Portfolio/Program roadmaps that drive the organizational outcomes overall
-Providing recommendations and clearly articulate trade-offs when sub optimal approaches are considered or taken.
-Intuitively understands when to lead and when to step back to allow the team to find the best way forward.
-Problem solver when it comes to team dynamics and creatively, managing constraints or conflict of interest when standing up new Agile teams.
-Coaches resource managers and middle management on how to best structure teams to maximize the benefits of Agile methods.
-Can wear multiple hats and knows when to use them to model, teach, mentor and coach teams to a more optimal way of working.
-Model and encourage Agile habits and behaviors related to leading without authority.
-Understands how to measure Agile team progress in a healthy way as they continuously improve how they operate and accomplish their sprint goals.
-Utilize the appropriate methods, tools and techniques within the context these have to be applied.Thinks outside of the box and is not rigid about one way of doing things in certain Agile frameworks.
-Build a trusting and safe environment where challenges/problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on progress and problem solving.
-Responsible for development of Scrum Masters, PO and agile team members. Encourages continuous learning mindset and recommends development opportunities.
-Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
-Aware of company control functions and supports agile lean governance (risk, compliance, privacy, security and legal) activities.
-Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example
-Responsible for training the team on Agile tool of choice like Rally, VersionOne. JIRA, etc.

Qualifications:

Education Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Work Experience:

-10+ years of experience managing large programs and/or Product lifecycle experience
-6+ years of Agile Coaching at program and team level
-4+ experience being a Scrum Master and/or RTE
-2+ years of people management experience

Required Skills:

-Certified Scrum Master or SAFe ASM required
-SAFe Agilist and/or Agile coaching certification like ICAgile (desired)
-Experience coaching Scrum, Kanban and ScrumBan teams
-Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
-Well versed with planning, coaching and launching Agile teams
-Understands Agile team structures that reduce risk and promote agility
-Experience managing product backlogs and parallel planning activities during execution
-Well versed with Agile estimation and planning techniques, backlog refinement and priortization and effective impediment resolution
-Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and mentoring skills
-Experience modelling and encouraging decentralized decision making
-Experience facilitating Scrum training for teams and stakeholders
-Basic understanding of DEVSECOPS practices
-Experience coaching and training Product Owners
-Experience working in onshore and offshore model with geographically distributed teams
