Laboratory Assistant
Responsibilities
We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to assistin a basic cardiovascular research laboratory specializing in cardiac
electrophysiology and biophysics using animal models. Responsibilities include
assisting with experiments (including test preparation, data acquisition, data
and statistical analysis, and figure preparation), and organizing/maintaining
the lab website. The ideal candidate should have either experience or
willingness to work with small animals (such as rabbits, rodents, zebrafish)
and cell cultures; experience using basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges,
pipettors, pH meter, scales, microscopes); familiarity with software programs
(MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); and general knowledge of chemistry and
meticulous preparation of reagents.. In this role, you must be able to work
collaboratively with the rest of the lab team and willing to assist other team
members in their projects and will be expected to learn and master new
scientific materials and techniques.QualificationsRequired:* Bachelor degree in STEM field or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Excellent work ethics* Ability to work flexible hours* Strong communication skills and ability to work well independently or collaboratively to assist other lab members. * Understanding of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and chemical waste disposal. * Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubator, pipettors, pH meter, scales, microscope, etc.) * Familiarity with basic software (MS-Office) * General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents * High capability to learn and master new materials and techniques in order to work independently with minimal supervision or reminders. Preferred: * Excellent organization skills and time management skills; ability to prioritize responsibilities/tasks efficiently.
