Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking
to hire a full-time accountant to join the Office of Finance Department. You will provide administrative and training
support to Director of Finance in managing and facilitating Semel
Institute's application process and policy compliance for Purchasing
Procurement credit cards, and Travel & Entertainment credit cards. Primary
duties include:

  • Prepare monthly and other related financial reports and variance analyses
  • Accounts Payable duties
  • Reconcile financial ledgers on Regental, Foundation and Endowment Gift Funds, Policy 913 Funds, and other miscellaneous funds
  • Process donor relations for received gifts
  • Serve as back up for Gift Fund Administrator
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business or related major (preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their practical applications in fund accounting
Knowledge of UCLA accounting policies, procedures, ledgers and forms for both revenue and expenditure cycles
Demonstrated skills in processing and preparing university forms including, but not limited to, Transfer of Funds, Financial Journal, Purchase Requisition, Department Deposit Record, Travel Expense Voucher, Check Request, Limited Value Order, Interdepartmental Recharge Request
Demonstrate skills in reviewing forms for compliance with university policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the areas of entertainment, foreign travel per diem, purchasing, memberships
Demonstrated skills in reconciliation of university general and subsidiary ledgers
Demonstrated proficiency using a PC in a DOS, Windows and Network environment
Demonstrated strong skills in using Microsoft Excel to create financial worksheets, maintain database files, prepare reports, and perform file linkage
Demonstrate skills in processing, matching, auditing vendor invoices for payment
Experience in interpreting, analyzing and evaluating financial information
Experience in maintaining and organizing accurate accounting records with attention to detail
Experience
in communicating effectively orally and in writing
