Staff Research Associate
Responsibilities
The Staff ResearchAssociate is responsible for research studying neural machinery underlying
decision making. The duties of the Staff
Research Associate include but are not limited to: performing surgeries,
data collection, histological preparation and tissue dissection for multiple
complex, federally funded projects and experiments. Duties also include preparing chemical
solutions for experimental use; handling and disposing of hazardous and
non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols; planning,
designing and conducting highly technical and complex research projects and
experiments; and developing workflows to meet all deadlines.QualificationsBroad
theoretical and practical knowledge of standard organic, physical and
analytical chemical methods.
Technical
expertise and working knowledge of neuroanatomy, neuropsychology, biochemistry
and physiology.
Highly
specialized technical histological skills and functional knowledge.
Basic
functional understanding of the research concerns related to the effects of
perinatal ethanol exposure on certain neuroendocrine, neuroimmune, behavioral.
Effective
organizational skills in wet laboratory administration.
Demonstrated
proficiency using a microcomputer for word processing, data analysis and record
keeping.
Demonstrated
ability to interpret data critically, prepare manuscripts and present findings
at scientific meetings.
Previous
experience in neuropsychology research.
Master's
degree in neuroscience preferred.
