Responsibilities

The On-Call Rape Treatment Center Counselor provides telephone and in-person on-call response services, including on-site crisis intervention, advocacy, and accompaniment to sexual assault victims seeking medical care and forensic medical examinations. Additionally, the on-call Rape Treatment Center Counselor provides information and referral services, consultation, and assistance seeking crime victim compensation.

Evening and weekend shifts. Weekday evening shifts begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 8:00 a.m. Weekend/Saturday & Sunday shifts are 12 hours - 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.


Qualifications

Requires PhD Psychology or MA Psychology with LMFT or Master's in Social Work

Experience working in an acute medical setting; advanced knowledge and training in crisis intervention and trauma work; knowledge about symptoms and effects of child sexual abuse and sexual assault; and skills in multidisciplinary collaboration required to work with various disciplines (e.g., police, DCFS) involved in providing services for sexual assault victims. Ability to work effectively with people who represent diversity in age, ethnicity, and cultural backgrounds. Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred. Must live within 30 minutes of UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica.
