Research Associate II-Surgery
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and/or post-doctoral staff, you will perform in-person scientific work in a biomedical laboratory. Work hours are flexible but not to exceed 40 hours/week. You will assist with ongoing translation projects pertaining to soft tissue sarcoma and gastric malignancies.QualificationsRequired:- Bachelor degree in STEM field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience working with small mammals, including mice (GEMM, NSG)
- Prior experience with basic laboratory experiments (cell culture, PCR, western blotting)
- Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubator, pipettors, microscope)
- Demonstrate ability to conduct defined research protocols independently, with excellent
troubleshooting skills - Ability to work well in a team including medical residents, undergraduate students, and other lab
personnel
Preferred:
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
Highly Preferred:
- Previous experience writing scientific publications
- Demonstrate proficiency in data presentation software including Excel and PowerPoint
- High capability to learn and master new materials and techniques in order to work independently
with minimal supervision or reminders - Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize responsibilities/tasks efficiently
Required:
Understanding of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and
chemical waste disposal
Preferred:
Experience with fluorescent microscopy (confocal, white light) and micro-CT / PET imaging
Knowledge of cell biology, cancer metabolism, soft tissue sarcoma, gastric malignancies and targeted
therapy
