Student Researcher - Pulmonary
Responsibilities
The Department of Medicine - Pulmonary unit is seeking to hire a student worker to assist with performing 3D culture of cultured cancer cell lines and patient-derived samples. The project includes: optimization of the incubation conditions to create 3D cultures of cancer or normal cells; performance of drug treatments in a high-throughput format; evaluation of the response of the spheroids to the treatment by measurement of the spheroid area; performance of viability assays.Qualifications*Must be a current UCLA student*2 years research experience with direct bench work experience
*Experience in 3D cell culture
*Experience in formation of organoids from tumor and normal cells
*Experience in soft agar colony formation assay
*Ability to understand instruction manual and other laboratory-related materials
*Ability to understand and execute given lab protocols
*Knowledge of University guidelines pertaining to biological safety including chemical and biomedical waste management is preferred
