Responsibilities

Participate in the total patient care in the
designated Oncology Clinic, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms
and life threatening emergencies. Act as a staff person in the office,
assisting in patient care, and maintain high standards of care in the community
office.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of Medical Assistant authorized
    program by the Dept. of Education or post secondary institution accredited or
    approved by the bureau of Private Post Secondary and Vocational education in
    the Dept. of Consumer Affairs
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association and American Red Cross
  • Ability to perform venipuncture with skill,
    adhering to all OSHA PPE safety requirements
  • Ability to push, pull or carry 30 lbs or more
  • Ability to work overtime in cases of emergency
  • Knowledge of MSDS and emergency treatments
  • Knowledge of all safety requirements when
    handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments
  • Ability to perform accurate quality control and patient
    sample testing for waived tests
  • Knowledge and ability to set up and assist
    physician with any procedures such as, but not limited to
    audiometry,spirometry, O2 saturation levels, skin tag and mole removals, ear
    lavage, colposcopies, flexible sigmoidscopies
  • Ability to be flexible in working both back and
    front office to facilitate smooth workflow
  • Ability to assist in orientation of new staff
  • Skill to accurately perform a 12-lead EKG
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to assist in medical emergencies and
    office procedure

Preferred:

  • Ability to administer CPR
  • Ability to use computerized patient care systems
  • Ability to schedule patient appointments and
    encounter patients using EPIC/CareConnect
  • Knowledge to schedule patient for referrals to
    specialists
