Lab Assistant
Responsibilities
The Lab Assistant in the Department of Neurosurgery in the David Geffen School of Medicine will serve as a research assistant supporting research studies in spine surgery. You will assist with research tasks, perform data collection and management, and maintain accurate record keeping. Under supervision, you will be trained on prospective data collection of patients undergoing spinal surgeries at UCLA Department of Neurosurgery until able to work independently. You will also be trained in various tasks including clinical data collection, organizing database, uploading of database to registry, evaluation of accuracy of data, retrieval of data, processing of data, and manuscript preparation.
Qualifications- Ability to prioritize workload when faced with multiple tasks.
- Verbal and composition skills to convey detailed medical information.
- Excellent typing skills
- Working knowledge of PC including the following software: Microsoft Office
- Ability to perform with frequent interruptions
- Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
- Minimum 3 years of lab experience
- Bachelors degree in Life Science
- Knowledge of sterile technique, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolation, serum and plasma isolation, and tissue culture
- Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work collaboratively with others
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in life sciences and 3 years of laboratory experience strongly preferred
