Behavioral Health Patient Care Assistant
Responsibilities
Venice Family Clinic is a community health center whose
mission is 'To provide quality primary health care to people in need.' Venice
Family Clinic cares for over 28,000 low-income patients in over 120,000 visits
annually who might otherwise go without critically needed health care
services. Venice Family Clinic has eleven clinical sites with over 350 staff,
1,700 volunteers, and a budget of $50 million. We provide high quality,
comprehensive primary and specialty health care, dental, mental health,
substance use treatment and child development services to underserved
individuals and families on the Westside of Los Angeles.
This position is comprised of 70% direct patient care
including screening MHLA patients using the PHQ9 and providing stress
management interventions via individual and group sessions. This position will
also be responsible for administrative duties that will support the Behavioral
Health and Program Management departments. Excellent organizational and
communication skills and ability to work independently are important to the
role. This requires strong interpersonal skills and an ability to create
positive connections with patients
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology or other social science - Required.
- Advanced Spanish communication skills - Required.
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships with patients and maintain boundaries - Required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Required.
- Ability to conduct assessments - Required.
- Ability to facilitate stress management services with patients - Required.
- Ability to help patients develop goals, prioritize them and implement strategies to attain them - Required.
- Knowledge of local community resources - Required.
- Skill at assessing psychological needs of indigent population - Required.
- Skills in managing multiple deadlines and demands - Required - Required.
- Excellent oral communication skills in order to communicate with providers, co-workers, agencies, students, patients/clients and volunteers - Required.
- Ability to manage high paced practice
- Working knowledge of California Child Abuse reporting laws
- Ability to manage high paced practice

Abuse reporting laws - Effective interpersonal skills to diffuse
patients who become agitated. - Ability to work effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
