Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the physician and nursing staff in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically related tasks. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, and preparing patients for examination. Greet patients and manage patient care flow. Prepare patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record. Set up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs. Assist provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed. Assist in follow-up scheduling needs. Answer patient calls in timely fashion. Prepare charts as needed. Ability to understand and assist two or more providers with clinical care. Handle all designated clinical care telephone interactions with provider input. Communicate all significant clinical findings to physician. Serve as an advocate for patient and utilizes appropriate resources.Qualifications

CPR certification is required.Medical Assistant Certification or Diploma is required.Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.Ability to perform venipuncture with skill, adhering to all OSHA PPE safety requirements.Ability to obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills.Skill to accurately perform a 12-lead EKG.Ability to order medical and clinical supplies and maintain adequate inventory.Ability to schedule patient appointments and encounter patients using the MCCS Appointment Scheduling/Encounter Registration Programs.Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow.Knowledge and ability to set up and assist physician with any procedures such as, but not limited to audiometry, spirometry, O2 saturation levels, skin tag and mole removals, ear lavage.Ability to perform accurate quality control and patient sample testing for waived tests.Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Bio hazardous specimens or contaminated instruments.Knowledge of MSDS and emergency treatments.Minimum of two years' experience as medical assistant a physician office, medical facility or in an Internal Medicine/Family Practice.
Ability to travel to Westwood/LAX locations for mandatory 2 or 4-week training upon hire.
Preferred: Certified phlebotomy technician license. Venipuncture and/or phlebotomy certification. Ability to schedule patient appointments and encounter patients using CareConnect. Knowledge to schedule patient for referrals to specialists. Ability to use computerized patient care systems.
