Certified Phlebotomy Technician II, Support Services (Night Shift)
Responsibilities
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Certified Phlebotomist Technician II to join their Support Services Laboratory. Duties include:
*Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical activities and specimen processing duties
*Performs phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients, including neonatal/pediatric patients; perform EKG in outpatient setting
*Triage all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information
*Enter and verify patient and test info into computer
*Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas
*Prepare samples for transport to referral labs
*Document draws, added tests, and cancelled/rejected specimens
Note - Position will have a variable start time. Shift may start as early as 8:30pm or as late as 10:00pm. Schedules will be provided at least two weeks in advance.
Qualifications*Current and valid California State CPT certificate
*At least two years of phlebotomy experience post CPT certification
*Recent experience in performing phlebotomy on all age groups
*Previous experience performing specimen processing in an acute care facility, highly preferred
*Previous experience in EPIC, highly preferred
*Knowledge of Clinical Lab test names and their abbreviated forms
*Ability to multi-task with accuracy
*Excellent time and organizational skills
*Skill in using a computer and printer
