The Rare Disease North America Medical Excellence (NA ME) role is an integral member of the Rare Disease NA Medical Affairs, and Medical Excellence teams. The NA ME candidate supports the development and implementation of key assigned North America initiatives that have an impact on multiple Rare Disease Medical Affairs stakeholders and markets. She/he combines organizational, project management, financial excellence and understanding of Rare Disease strategic priorities, with the goal of seamless execution of the plans including key asset-level projects, as well as other key Ad Board and Congress related initiatives.

The role reports to the Rare Disease North America Medical Excellence Regional Lead and closely collaborates with the NA Medical Affairs colleagues and cross functional partners.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day operational project and financial management support for projects stemming from one or more teams (O&A, FMD, Brand) in RD NAMA.
  • Supports the planning and execution of Globally/Regionally aligned Rare Disease Medical Digital plans and initiatives
  • Supports planning and implementation of NA Medical Affairs assigned meetings and follow up post meetings
  • Supports planning/implementation and follow up of key NAMA deliverables across the region
  • Support assigned NAMA activities/initiatives including development and monitoring of project and program plans and tracking of milestones
  • Develops and leads tracking of performance / activity measurements (metrics) as appropriate
  • Routinely identifies, raises/shares, and implements best practices; ensuring consistency in overarching processes and systems, where needed; and developing partnerships with key colleagues in other functional areas to ensure ongoing alignment and efficiency.
  • Drives implementation of appropriate SOP’s, business processes, etc.
  • Drive the creation/implementation of simple medical processes, working with key stakeholders, to support strategy and execution of Medical Affairs data generation/communication activities
  • Responsible for maintaining financial information and data integrity in source system/platform. Partners with key stakeholders to support timely contracting and project/financial tracking.
  • Collaborate and align with key internal stakeholders and other Medical Excellence / Operations colleagues for consistency and alignment as appropriate
  • Financial Responsibilities (As appropriate):
  • Responsible, with minimal oversight, for all aspects related to financial set up, approval, and management of financials (eg. Purchase Orders) in support of RD NAMA projects.
  • Act as a single point of contact for issue resolution related to management of vendor related purchase orders including creation of new vendors, resolution of invoice payment delays and duplications.
  • Partner with project owners to ensure receipt of deliverables prior to ensuring financial obligations are met.

Qualifications

Education

  • BA/BS degree required; MBA/MS preferred

Experience

  • 7-10 years of relevant professional experience; Project Management, finance, or management information systems experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate open discussion among key stakeholders and build internal and external relationships through influencing, partnering, anticipating needs, fulfilling expectations
  • Ability to create & manage complex projects, including budget management & fiscal awareness
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, compile and report insights and impact data
  • Demonstrated expertise in Business software including Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Pfizer systems including MEDIC/ONEMED, ePA3, EPAY and ARIBA, is an advantage.
  • Must be independent, pro-active, self-motivated with strong organizational skills and possess the ability to manage priorities, handle multiple tasks with frequent tight deadlines
  • Capable of comprehending and communicating in a clear and concise manner
  • An ability to lead and manage in a matrixed structure and in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically
  • Demonstrated record of sound judgment and intelligent decision-making
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required, with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Medical Affairs would be a plus
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
