The Opportunity

As a Operations Business Line Leader I in Abbott Vascular site, located in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. This position is for our Linea 5 area in a first shift. Manages the operations and personnel of one production line to maximize productivity and operating efficiencies. Maintains a high level of Product Quality and Compliance by ensuring production is performed following Quality System and procedural requirements.

Ensures personnel complies with company policies and procedures. Oversees the coordination of labor, materials, equipment, and tooling to assemble product effectively and deliver it per production schedule requirements.

Collaborates with other departments and functions as required in support of meeting operational objectives.

Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.

What You’ll Work On

  • Schedules and organizes assigned production lines to achieve supply commitments and maintain targeted levels of inventories.

  • Monitors daily line metrics and provide direction and guidance to skilled nonexempt staff to achieve unit or project goals.

  • Coordinates activities related to shift starts and changes.

  • Understands all line PFM's. Proposes and updates PFM’s based on process changes or station improvements.

  • Manages staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources.

  • Monitors and reports on performance to Operational & Financial metrics for the area.

  • Oversees personnel and processes to ensure full compliance with internal and external regulations. Oversees personnel and processes to ensure production meets all associated quality standards.

  • Supports investigations for man related quality incidents and drives implementation of corrective actions along with Quality department.

  • Maintains a safe work environment with 100% training and compliance to applicable procedures. Performs investigations for safety incidents, and drive implementation of corrective actions along with Safety department. Prepare training plans to achieve line ergonomic rotation objectives.

  • Communicates to line personnel daily while maintaining a constant line presence. Responsible for achieving department attendance targets including immediate feedback to employees by instance. Interprets and executes policies that affect work processes and personnel within the assigned area. Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, rewarding positive behavior, and applying disciplinary action as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree. Bachelor in Business Administration or Engineering.

  • Engineering is preferred.

  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish and English, advanced.

  • 2+-5 years of related work experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices preferred).

  • Managing progress of nonexempt employees for one production line toward achievement of departmental goals.

  • Manage costs of projects, manpower, and material resources for one production line.
