Associate Scientist (Solid State Characterization)
In this role you will join Amgen’s Pre-Pivotal Drug Product Technologies organization in Synthetics Enabling Technologies. You will support teams conducting solid state form selection and provide characterization support for drug substance (DS) and drug product (DP) process development for the synthetics and biologics portfolios from Discovery to Commercial.

Generate fundamental knowledge to establish form development strategies based on Target Product Profiles.
Provide solid state characterization support for drug substance and drug product process development for synthetics and biologics programs.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with relevant internal and external customers and partners.
Contribute to develop ability assessments of small molecules and the solid state forms.
Deliver progress reports and presentations to ensure management awareness and engagement of the current and future program and functional needs.
Author and review technical reports, memos, Invention Disclosure Records (IDRs), and regulatory sections in support of Investigational New Drug (IND) submissions.

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 2 years of scientific experience
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of scientific experience OR
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic preparation in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy, Chemistry, or related field.
Hands-on experience in research laboratories including experience in solid-state characterization (DSC, TGA, XRD, microscopy, moisture sorption, particle characterization, etc.).
Experience with solid state-NMR is desired.
Knowledge of polymorph and crystal form screening.
Experience in technical data analysis and documentation.
Experience applying statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
Problem solver with a proactive demeanor and ability to collaborate and work in a cross functional/multidisciplinary environment.
Abilities to take initiative, work independently, and be flexible in responsibilities.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills – ability to distill, craft and present key messages relative to diverse audience requirements.
Proven ability to learn and act on dynamic information at a rapid pace.
