The Opportunity

The IT Business Analyst position is in our Toxicology business unit for SAMSHA certified laboratories located in Richmond, Virginia, and Gretna, Louisiana. This role will closely collaborate with laboratory operations and other departments to design and develop improvements to the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and other related software. This is a hybrid role with at least 3 days or more required in the office.

What You’ll Work On

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs, elicit high level requirements, and recommend technical solutions.

  • Produce detailed requirements specifications that clearly communicate the needs to the technical teams.

  • Assist with the understanding of requirements, providing clarifications, and modifying requirements as needed.

  • Manage the mapping processes through the as-is, considering the current scenario of the process, through evaluation, to suggest the to-be scenario and its process compared to the current process.

  • Direct and assist with functional testing, user acceptance testing, and deployment.

  • Report on sources of technical issues or questions and make recommendations.

  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve systems, discover issues, and deliver better value to the customer.

  • Responsible for time management, adherence to schedule and attendance.

  • Maintains a culture of accountability and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or equivalent degree, preferably in a science or technical field such as Computer Science

  • Four or more years of experience as a Business Analyst or a related role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in healthcare.

  • Being exposed to Agile or Waterfall Methodologies.

  • Experience working with laboratory information systems.

  • Basic SQL capabilities or willing to learn.

  • Experience writing detailed functional and technical requirements specifications.

  • Experience with project management and issue tracking tools. No PM experience in this area is fine, this is just a nice to have.

  • Understanding of fundamental software design and function concepts. Coding is not required for this role, just being exposed to the technologies is totally acceptable.

  • Ability to investigate software functional issues and determine potential causes.
