The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation, and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production and Engineering targets are achieved.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Senior Engineer to join the engineering function at GSK’s manufacturing site at Ware. The successful applicant will be aligned to the front-end manufacturing processes linked to Micronising (DPI – Dry Powder Inhaler), Blending and Filling within the Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC).

  • You (and the wider team) will take responsibility for managing equipment process improvements across specified areas/functions. You will collaborate with fellow engineers, contractors, suppliers, and consultants to deliver a range of engineering-related activities to agreed levels of safety, quality, cost, time, and tangible benefit.

  • The role requires a close working relationship with the production, quality, and technical functions in a variety of departments.

  • You will have an in depth understanding of the designated process, whilst interfacing with a broad network of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). You will have responsibility for overall equipment performance, including making improvements to ensure delivery of the Site’s commercial aims. You will also support with any regulatory audit questions during inspections.

In relation to the engineering manufacturing elements of the role you will ideally be able to demonstrate a level of knowledge concerning the pharmaceutical manufacturing area. You will also be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives through increasing equipment safety and quality performance, reliability and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Experience or expertise in isolator containment, pressure systems, dry powder filling, process safety would be an advantage.

About You:

This role would suit a motivated person who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment. You will be a qualified engineer, with strong people skills. A proven ability to drive performance is a must It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Ideally you will have worked in a highly regulated industry.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications and / or experience (e.g., Experience of pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing, ideally within production engineering)

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent experience and professional accreditation, or working towards)Understanding / Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) - understands its impact on their own role and the implications of not following cGMP.
