Job Description: Senior Scientist, Analytical R&D (R3)

The Small Molecule Analytical Research & Development (SMAR&D) department of our Research & Development Division is seeking applicants for a Senior Scientist position available at its Rahway, New Jersey research facility. SMAR&D supports analytical characterization from early development to filing/commercialization for a variety of molecules including, typical small-molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, novel excipients, linkers for bioconjugation, and enzymes for bio-catalysis etc.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Senior Scientist is a laboratory-based scientific role tasked with solving complex analytical problems at the interface of chemistry, engineering, and lab informatics disciplines to enable development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The successful applicant will be expected to solve challenging chemistry problems by application of one or more analytical techniques, including but not limited to, liquid chromatography, supercritical fluid chromatography, gas chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, ion chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, etc. The successful candidate must be able to effectively collaborate in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or related field or M.S. in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Candidates receiving Ph.D. in 2021 are also eligible to apply.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Strong background and experience in separation science

  • Demonstrated scientific ability through publications and presentations in scientific conferences.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to deliver complex objectives under aggressive timelines in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in areas such as bioconjugate chemistry, design & characterization of protein linkers, analytical characterization of large molecules and/or antibody drug conjugates
