Position Overview

Under the general direction of the HES Leader of PR Operations formulates and implements manufacturing policies & procedures to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the Company and all its manufacturing operations. Directs and coordinates the Continuous Improvement philosophy in Vega Baja and other manufacturing facilities, as required, assuring all manufacturing changes meet quality, service, cost standards and objectives. Directs all Businesses Unit Continuous Improvement Strategies / Initiatives for Vega Baja assuring that productivity improvements and quality objectives are met and sustained. Directs the Business Unit activities ensuring the accomplishments of quality related objectives, and the compliance with the “HCL” quality product certifications: Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and compliance with the established Quality System as required by the International Standardization Organization (ISO).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • With peer Business Managers, identifies improvement opportunities, develops and recommends strategies for the implementation of lean manufacturing practices and techniques. Translate strategic planning into CI Events to get results aligned with Corporate Platform strategies. Organizes events focusing on inventory and space reduction, quality and productivity improvements, manufacturing integration, and the best utilization of resources.
  • Reviews, develops, audits, and conducts 5’S / SQDC, and other key initiative within the OpEx Office. Serves as link between Hubbell Caribe Limited and others Hubbell locations in search for excellence / best practices. Conducts monthly reviews on On Site activities and formulates plans on future events with Business Unit Managers. Direct support on Business Policy Deployment Matrix and Leading Indicators to assure that strategic goals and objectives are met. Feedback and reporting of lean production system metrics (SQDC, 5S, Training, One Piece Flow, K3E, A3, TAKT time etc.), to upper management, monthly.
  • Identify Cost Reduction Projects on a yearly basis and assure on time completion. Works together with other personnel to design new programs and strategies to improve cultural changes and initiatives for continued improvements. Initiates and assists in the evaluation or preparation of Hubbell’s Authority for Expenditure (AFE) documentation for cost reduction and improvement projects.

Education, Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s in business, Science, or Engineering with master’s in business or Science, preferably, with over five (5) years of manufacturing industry experience. Experience preferably at Electrical / Electromechanical manufacturing.

Minimum of 5 years managing highly efficient teams.

Fluent in written and verbal English and Spanish languages.

CI certified - Black Belt required
