Position Overview
Acts as technical liaison between customer and Beckwith team during the business development stages. Assists in Coordinating internal activities to bring all customer needs and requests to realization.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support business development project activities by maintaining communications, documenting, executing, & keeping track of specific project requests for strategic OEM and Utility customers.
Assist OEMs and strategic customers with product support, installation, service, or repair during the business development stages to obtain product approvals.
Assists in developing, creating, and testing proof of concept solutions to for new and existing applications of Beckwith products and services.
Maintains the Beckwith SG Lab so that it is in a neat and constant working order for local or remote demonstrations/testing/trainings
Become the expert user/consultant of the SG Lab SCADA system and test equipment.
Assists in the development of product application demos for trade shows, technical trainings, sales presentations, and seminars.
Create, organize, and maintain training material for new business development projects.
Areas of support may include application, product support, product management support, technical training, user awareness, first time/new order administration, and field service.
Communicates software/hardware deficiencies and issues to supervisor for timely resolution
Report and track corrective action of product nonconformance to appropriate departments.
Provide internal feedback concerning strategic account request activities.
Other necessary duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Satisfactorily perform all primary job functions while operating within established budget.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in reviewing specifications, plans and other customer documents to assure proper application and operation of Beckwith's products and systems.
Develop part number configurations for application and quotation purposes.
Provide input to improve product and application documentation for customers.
Assist the Department Managers with the development of technical aid literature/documents, and product instruction books.
Up to 25% travel to various domestic locations may be required.

Skills and Experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BSEE and 3-5 years of protective relay and controls knowledge; Protective relay practices; Electric utility equipment commissioning; 2 years experience in customer assistance; Equipment problem troubleshooting and resolution; 3-5 years utility experience in protection is preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Possess application knowledge of Distribution and/or Transmission protection & control practices. Able to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly and schematic drawings and interpret special instructions regarding work to be done as required by customer.
Knowledge of electronics with a repair background. Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital electronic circuits to the component level. Problem solving techniques to respond quickly and effectively to customers. Relay testing using Omicron, Doble, Megger, Manta, or equivalent test set, Ability to apply product knowledge in a variety of applications. Ability to schedule and prioritize work and multiple tasks.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS
Telephone, fax, PC computer, printer, copier, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes (analog/digital), synthesizer/function generator, Tringale Microworks tools, current & voltage injection test sets, AC/DC power supply, hi-pot tester (AC/DC), RLC tester, hand and solder tools, wrist strap and strap tester, digital thermometer, drills & drill press, milling machine, electric saws, impact drivers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to risk of electrical shock and burns. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; heat, cold, humidity, and/or outside weather conditions.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or governmental regulations. Ability to write routine test and maintenance instructions/procedures, reports including repair reports and general business correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively via telephone or in person to customers, field service technicians or employees. Bilingual is a big plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret spreadsheets and bar graphs. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, & Algebra (calculus and Differential equations is a plus). Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Vector or Phasor Math and being able to work with these values in Polar and rectangular form is strongly desired.
