Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Software design engineer will be responsible for design & development of Aclara Meters software suite. This would require strong OOPS, [Register to View] knowledge & software development practices.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
Masters Degree in Computer Science

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the software development and gain product knowledge.
  • Design, develop & testing of desktop applications written in high level languages OOPS, C#, WPF with MVVM and XML under guidance.
  • Experience with [Register to View] Visual Studio, and desktop application development would be preferred.
  • Contribute to team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Understand the conceptual designs and detailed designs in accordance with established engineering processes, follow the development best practices.
  • Maintains existing application codebase & get the changes reviewed by seniors. Operate with minimal supervision.
  • Making necessary documentation as per corporate’s engineering software NPI process guidelines and end user level product
  • Collaborates with Senior team members, Technical Leads, Architects to quickly understand the requirements and to participate in team discussions

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 2 -3 years of experience in building windows based applications. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Good programming skill in any of the programming languages, preferably C# .Net
  • Strong knowledge of version management tools (TFS/Git)
  • Strong knowledge of Development methodology and tools.
  • Strong knowledge in OOPS concepts is a must.
  • Understanding of agile, iterative SDLC (e.g., Agile, SCRUM, etc.) environment is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with Minimal Supervision
