The Covington factory is a 24/7, high-paced, dynamic work environment employing 800 associates on site delivering beloved ice cream to our consumers. We achieve success through collaborative cross functional teams leading the delivery of products to our supply chain. The Site Engineering Manager has a key role to play to deliver engineering and capital projects for the site successfully. The purpose of this job is to manage the end-to-end delivery of the site’s capital plans, managing engineers at the site as well as the delivery of projects of significant size or a portfolio of smaller projects. Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of projects including scope, cost and timeline definitions and management, communications and stakeholders’ management, procurement plans, quality, resources, construction safety and risk management, and overall project integration. Leads the EEM (Early Equipment Management) pillar with full integration with the Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) plans on site. Reports to the Site Director, with a dotted line to the Engineering Director.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

You’re a born leader: You provide engineering leadership to project teams drawing resources from the local, regional and global organization. You serve as the Early Equipment Management pillar leader for the site. You lead the capital management process in the site, that can have an investment of € 4 – 10MM per year, driving capital efficiency, sweating the assets and execution excellence. You have strong passion for Engineering Excellence and people development to drive team’s performance. You strategically influence peers and stakeholders to drive the business agenda through technical solutions. You support the Site Director and Engineering Director in developing the site and NA Ice Cream Engineering Strategy and developing cluster engineering capabilities.

You’re a dot connector: You work closely with the site team to build a robust site master plan, including process, pack, infrastructure and utilities to drive change, sustain and improve performance and customer service at manufacturing. You also work closely with the site team to improve operational performance of production lines, process kits and utilities systems, in order to improve cost and delivery at the site and therefore the business as well to avoid capital investments. You will work cross-category, engaging and collaborating with the other Engineering Managers to improve capabilities within the engineering team.

You’re a change maker: You flawlessly execute projects, leading all engineering aspects of the working program working with site, Procurement, Suppliers, Planning, R&D, Safety, Quality, Legal and the engineering community in an integrated, high performance work team. You drive capital efficiency by constantly looking at ways to improve costs to implement projects and looking at alternative technical solutions, besides working together with the site to sweat the assets, finding ways to extend the operating life of equipment, improving efficiencies, lowering environmental footprint and lowering operating costs.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Must Have

  • B.S. degree in Engineering with demonstrated work experience
  • 5 - 10+ years of experience in related Project Engineering in FMCG/ related industry
  • People leadership experience
  • Professional engineering skills, including disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and civil construction design and deploy, including working knowledge on International Engineering Standards.
  • Project Management Leadership with strong Early Management expertise (EPM/ EEM)
  • Proficient in continuous improvement methodologies, with experience in implementing/ driving pillar results through continuous improvement methodology, especially Autonomous Maintenance, Professional Maintenance and Early Equipment Management
  • Track record of delivering and managing major projects (€ Multi Million) within Unilever or similar FMCG environment.
  • Working knowledge on Engineering software: AutoCAD, Microsoft Project.

  • Skills: Leadership, Communication, Persuasion, Project Management, Analytical/ Systems Thinking

Nice To Have

  • Attained Master Business Administration in Engineering Management or Supply Chain
  • Project Management Institute Certification (PMP® by PMI)
  • Knowledge and working experience in ice cream making and packaging

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work to support a 24/7 factory environment, donning all necessary Personal Protective Equipment. Essential functions include, but not limited to walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and exposure to varying weather conditions.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $110,700 to $166,000. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
