Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Utilities shall lead the site utility engineering managers and engineers in their efforts to execute the capital plan and support the operating needs of the local breweries. They must annually set clear and measurable objectives for the engineering managers and ensure he/she does the same for his/her group. They must work closely with the Director of the Utilities group and Engineering department leadership team to jointly achieve the department objectives.

The Senior Manager of Utilities must ensure that the site utility engineers are continuously abreast of new technologies being developed by the utility experts in the department. The Senior Manager of Utilities should encourage the site teams to innovate by utilizing new methodologies and technologies where applicable as long as they work with the appropriate internal experts.

The Senior Manager shall ensure that the site utility teams utilize proven and consistent suppliers and project execution methodologies. They should consult with the department director and utility experts as needed in this effort.

Other responsibilities include traveling to the breweries to work hands on with the site utilities site teams to ensure the success of the projects. Goal is to build more effective and efficient teams both in utilities and across the project.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the site utility engineering managers and engineers in their efforts to execute the capital plan and support the operating needs of the local breweries.

  • Annually set clear and measurable objectives for the engineering managers and ensure he/she does the same for his/her group. Meet with each of the individuals to communicate clear expectations for achieving the annual objectives.

  • Ensure all the site utility groups have access to the company design and operating standards for all utility systems established by the utilities experts. Ensure the site utility engineers maintain a high focus on safety and the handling of hazardous gases.

  • Work with the utilities experts to review and ensure the current operations training materials dealing with all utility operations and hazardous gas process’s meet the necessary guidelines and are readily available to all project teams, suppliers, and the operations training department. In addition, ensure the training materials are kept up to date.

  • Ensure the site utility managers and engineers employ consistent methods and practices from site to site. Examples of this can be in the methods of project execution, suppliers used, equipment selected and so forth. They should consult with the department director and utility experts as needed in this effort.

  • Travel to the breweries to work hands on with the site utilities site teams to ensure the success of the projects. The goal is to build more effective and efficient teams both in utilities and across the project.

  • Identify problem areas from current and past project execution methods and work with site utility teams to avoid repeating them again. Communication is key.

  • Ensure that the site utility engineers stay abreast of new technologies that will improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the utility operation of the breweries. Equipment design advances, alternate fuels, and improved ventilation systems are just a sample of technologies to monitor in this area.

  • Ensure that he/she and the utility group is involved in the selection process of outside engineers, contractors or consultants working on the utility systems.

  • Ensure that his group works with all ongoing design firms, and contractors, employing the best tools, and methodologies, that the CBI hazardous gas standards have been communicated and are being incorporated into all the project designs from the beginning of the project through completion.

  • Manage their group to identify standard process gaps and create defined workflows. Ensure all processes are communicated to all stakeholders and followed.

  • Implement a formal “Request for Design Change” process and approval flow

  • Develop and maintain a positive and trusting working relationship with all stakeholders

  • Model appropriate behavior.

  • Ensure the CBI culture is followed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical preferred

  • 10+ years of industry specific experience

  • Experience in Engineering Utilities Area

  • Experience in a Managerial Role preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks as projects, ensuring completion to meet deadlines

  • Excellent attention to detail on multiple simultaneous tasks

  • Excellent verbal presentation skills. Excellent written communications skills and ability to document system procedures in an understandable format.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Willing to travel for extended periods of time

  • Passport and Visa is a plus

  • Bilingual is a plus

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Lifting may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Valid Driver’s license in the state employed, must have acceptable driving record, and must have automobile liability insurance (when using a personal vehicle on Company business) OR have the ability to travel.

The salary range for this role is:

$116,100.00 - $185,400.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
