Job Description

Position Summary

Provide and ensure Quality Services operational support during production process. Validate compliance to product specifications and adherence to GMP’s through routine and advanced chemical analyses and sampling on wines, juices, concentrates, spirits, and other Company products. Confirm compliance of the facility through process and site audits. Communicate with and provide feedback to production team members to facilitate process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, implementation and updating of lab standard operating procedures.
  • Assists in monitoring and maintaining lab inventories
  • Be able to identify if instruments are performing as intended
  • Keeps clear, concise, and accessible records of all data for juices, wines, microbiological work, bottling samples, etc. Inputs wine/juice analysis data into Corporate System Database.
  • Perform special projects and other assignments relating to lab functions including bench trials, or work with spectrophotometer and microscope
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute required reports and records
  • Run control checks on equipment to ensure it is working properly and be able to identify if instruments are performing as intended.
  • Performs typical lab analyses with accuracy, precision, timeliness in accordance with SOPs
  • Perform sampling on product tanks, production lines, water systems and air in production environments.
  • Perform micro related functions to meet Company regulatory specifications.
  • Maintain lab and equipment cleanliness in a safe, sanitary working environment.
  • Adhere to and promote safety in accordance with policies and procedures. Report issues to Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Display teamwork among other laboratory staff and all winery personnel.
  • Assist with analytical lab duties as instructed by Lab Tech II, Sr. Laboratory Technician or Manager
  • Cross-train on other lab duties
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
  • Job will be primarily outside performing analyses and sampling in the tank farm and production areas

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in science-related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Knowledge of analytical procedures and equipment
  • Chemistry or Biology background
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions/directions
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must be able to recognize potential problems that require solutions to be found at a higher level
  • Basic writing and mathematical skills
  • Basic skill level in using computer applications (Excel, Work, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions/directions
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with overtime as requested, including weekends and off shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of microbiological analyses
  • At least 2 years’ laboratory experience
  • Familiarity with JDE/SAP, Access, Intelex and Intellepac
  • Bachelor’s degree in science related field
  • Familiarity with AS400, JDE/SAP, Access, Intelex and Intellepac
  • Knowledge of various wine types
  • Previous winery experience

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Perform tasks of a repetitious nature, ability to change job priorities and the need for speed, accuracy, and precision to ensure highest quality standards.
  • Works outdoors/indoors.
  • Works in high places.
  • Frequent climbing of ladders and stairs.
  • Work on wet surfaces.
  • Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
  • Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
  • Must be able to move up to 55lbs.
  • Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The salary range for this role is:

$18.70 - $28.10
