Tectum, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries and one of eleven North American plants, is looking for reliable Truck Drivers to join our 1st (7am-3pm) shift teams. Tectum is proud to have over 70 years of experience producing wall, roof and ceiling tiles. We currently employ ~100 people who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product.

We are looking for creators and enthusiasts who demonstrate pride in their work and are interested in a career in manufacturing. Job duties include:

  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follow all Company and OSHA Safety Policies.

  • Ensure that the standards for quality, output, and safety are adhered to and improved upon.
  • Properly maintain equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of customer focus in producing quality products and services that do not sacrifice the safety of others, one’s self, or the environment.
  • Attend and participate in all required company training programs.
  • Conform to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area – clean and maintain equipment before, during, and at the end of shift.
  • Participate and contribute in Gemba/visual management standards and requirements.
  • Scheduled shift 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Vibrate dust out of the dust collector at proper intervals.
  • Empty the screw on the dust collector.
  • Place dust bin inside the dust collector, keep the dust bed level, pull out the dust bed and fill with scrap boards.
  • Haul scrap material and salvage from picker room to a designated site.
  • Haul dust beds from bale house and 2nd, 3rd floors to a designated site.
  • Handle empty waste paint totes
  • Empty all trash barrels in plant.
  • When applicable shred scrap board in scrap shredder.
  • Stage and move product when necessary.
  • Perform any other function the supervisor deems necessary.

  • Education and Experience
  • Must have forklift license or the ability to obtain one within 15 working days.
  • Prior manufacturing, assembly, material movement or machine operator experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing materials, fabrication processes and machinery preferred.
  • Ability to be certified to operate other company vehicles.
  • CDL perferred
  • Prefer High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to read, write, and use measuring devices.

Qualifications

  • Industrial or manufacturing experience desired but not required
  • Be reliable and punctual, and be able to work flexible day time hours, including overtime and some weekends, as needed.
  • Language proficiency to read & write in English
  • Able to follow work instructions, willingness to learn and be part of a winning team

Preferred Qualification

  • HS diploma or GED
  • CDL

Work Environment
Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Basic PPE required: safety glasses, earplugs, and steel toe/composite boots. Specific PPE & training will be provided for activities requiring additional accommodations.

Tectum, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI), is one of fifteen Armstrong plants in North America. Our Tectum manufacturing plant employs many people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product. With over 60 years of innovation and experience in reducing noise worldwide, our Tectum plant has the right product for your noise problem.

This position is located in beautiful and historical Newark, Ohio, the county seat of Licking County, 40 miles northeast of Columbus. We also have another location in nearby Hebron.
