Operations Manager
Background & Purpose of the Job
This position works out of our Chicago, IL location where we produce Hellmann’s Mayonnaise.
Reporting into the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for managing the operations teams across a 24/7 schedule while delivering the daily operational goals, including safety, quality, customer service, cost reduction, productivity, and waste reduction. This role will provide leadership to all operational front-line managers and collaborate with factory senior leadership team to deliver business goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe systems of work within your team.
- Managing the performance and development of a team of 6+ salaried front-line managers and a team of 112 hourly employees.
- Drive leadership through people management, discipline, development, promotions, and motivation within a changing environment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve productivity goals.
- Lead and direct process improvement, problem solving, and crisis management for operational issues.
- Deliver key operational goals, including safety, quality, cost, operating plant efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Driving consistency in business agenda’s, performance, accountability, and morale across all 5 shifts.
- All other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or other related field.
- 5+ years of supply chain experience with time spent in a manufacturing environment, Foods CPG and Union experience is a plus.
- Previous experience directly supervising others, experience leading salary teammates is a plus.
- Working knowledge of state and federal regulations, i.e. OSHA, FDA, EPA, etc.
- Understanding of safety, quality, GMP, and housekeeping requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems, strong analytical and technical thought process, and experience in continuous improvement methodology preferred.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $96,000 to $143,900. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
