Location of the job: Jefferson City, MO

Shift: Days 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Mon - Fri)

The Digital Controls and Automation System Technician will perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic, control, and power equipment with minimal supervision.

What You’ll Do:

  • Actively support the plant’s Continuous Improvement initiative by completing all scheduled training and assigned responsibilities, including all training related to the 10 pillars of WCM (world class manufacturing) as applicable.

  • Assist with installation of control, information, and inspection systems.

  • Read and understand electrical related documents such as schematics, one-line diagrams, plan drawings, instrument installation and configuration details.

  • Install wiring, cabling, and conduit.

  • Install and maintain electrical equipment.

  • Install, maintain, and configure Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware.

  • Understand basic PLC ladder logic; be able to make simple relay logic PLC program changes.

  • Document electrical, control, and power systems.

  • Demonstrate effective personal computer skills as applicable.

  • Understand and apply National Electric Code (NEC) requirements.

  • Adhere to NFPA-70E Code and appropriate PPE requirements.

  • Apply FM and NFPA requirements of hazardous location installation.

  • Have the ability to use electrical test equipment (i.e. oscilloscope, volt/Ohm meter, logic analyzer, meggers and current probes).

  • Install, maintain, and configure Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and DC drives.

  • Install, maintain, and configure photo eyes and proximity switches.

  • Install, maintain, and configure pressure, temperature, flow, and weight instrumentation.

  • Install, maintain, and configure servo motors.

  • Perform more advanced PLC ladder logic programming such as PID loop control, add on instructions, and sequencers.

  • Ability to modify and maintain machine vision systems.

  • Communicate clearly (both written and verbally) to production team, support staff and supervisors.

  • Utilize computer systems when appropriate to provide information to others who have interest.

  • Tag Mapping into Azure

  • Understand and follow all plant and department policies and procedures.

  • Work and participate in a team environment.

  • Develop good troubleshooting skills.

  • Continue advancing technical skills.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to other Electrical Systems Technicians.

  • All other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • High school diploma, or GED equivalent.

  • A graduate of a 2 year post-secondary program in Industrial Electricity, Controls, or Electronics, or, successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program, or, a minimum of 3 years of directly related work experience can be substituted for the post-secondary education.

  • Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shut down, training courses etc., and emergency cover.

  • Must be able to travel for training.

  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
