About the Team

AIMS enables Walmart's ecommerce business to make and keep promises to its customer in our global market by delivering the next generation of supply chain. The Inventory Management group is responsible for the inbound inventory for the entire [Register to View] and is comprised of Forecasting, Replenishment, and Allocation. The Forecasting team generates data science models to predict demand for any given item at any given point of time. The Replenishment team uses this information as well as others to perform optimizations at a more holistic level. They then formulate a plan that looks at current inventory in real-time across various categories and items. The Allocation team takes care of allocating the inventory across various fulfillment centers so that inventory sits close to demand. They do this taking various factors into consideration like, space available, geography, restrictions, and security. With our product offerings increasing daily, this all has to be done to scale optimizing millions of SKU's and multiple fulfillment centers. These highly available and responsive systems drive the entire inventory management of Walmart.com.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of technologies used in building scalable, distributed systems cloud
  • Strong understanding of Distributed Systems.
  • Ability to design for fault tolerance and high availability.
  • Experience with Message Queue based scalable event driven architecture such as Kafka.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following programming Languages and technologies: Java, Python, Spark (SQL, Streaming), Hadoop Map-Reduce experience. Build Manager (Maven), Distributed Version Control (GIT), Continuous Integration (Jenkins) experience.
  • Solid dev-ops skills in troubleshooting live applications, assessing performance bottlenecks of applications running on Linux.
  • Extensive experience building services using back-end technologies (Java, Spring, Jersey)
  • In depth knowledge of SQL and database technologies (Hive, MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra)
  • Scripting skills in at least one of the following: Perl, Python, Shell, Bash, or Ruby
  • Strong aptitude for writing efficient code
  • Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast-paced start-up like environment

As a Staff Software Engineer, you are responsible for leading the team in designing high performance and scalable solutions that meet the needs of millions of Walmart customers and its next generation supply chain. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop high performance and scalable solutions that extract, transform, and load big data

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Extensive experience building services using back-end technologies (Java, Spring, Jersey)

The annual salary range for this position is $144,000.00-$216,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
