Reporting to Global Technology’s Chief Architect, the Quantum Computing Senior Lead Software Engineer will evaluate, pilot, and evolve its approach to harnessing emerging Quantum Computing techniques, across its asset management and insurance capabilities. Responsibilities range from development of low-level Proof-of-concepts on existing quantum computing platforms under development in industry and academia, to more complex, cloud-based capabilities involving hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, run on quantum simulators and/or cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Braket). The ideal candidate is a full-stack developer with a DevOps mindset, with proficiency in both front-end and back-end development and has some background or experience in Quantum Computing.

Responsibilities:

  • Key collaborator partnering across business teams to explore POCs

  • Co-creates and implement solutions at scale based on POC results

  • Builds POCs using independent judgement and ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and industry standards. Builds using modern design patterns and architectural principles and ensure developed solutions remain compliant with all applicable Prudential standards and meets security requirements

  • Develops high quality, well documented, and efficient code supporting testing and automation

  • Writes and conducts unit, integration tests and functional automation with consideration for larger areas of development and impact when conducting tests

  • Participates actively in delivery across tech stack, integration, and life cycle

  • Works closely with systems engineers, architects, and business partners to ensure quality of the product to deliver on business objectives, while removing technical impediment

  • Works with broader product issues and plans for the full scope, across ideation, design, development, testing, business engagement, and team leadership

  • Influences within and outside the team, serving as a thought leader on Quantum Computing

  • Demonstrates a talent mindset by evangelizing emerging technologies and transformation, influencing adoption of the transformation, and driving modernization goals through co-creation, solution implementation and knowledge sharing, using successful implementation examples to broaden awareness and adoption

Qualifications & Key Skills:

--Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.

--Belongs to an open-source community or contributes to open-source codebases on a regular basis and influences technical communities

--Experience in highly ambiguous product-driven environments such as commercial research and development, start-up, or academic group

--Demonstrated experience developing large-scale applications

--Experience mentoring junior developers

--Technical Acumen:

  • Full stack developer with proficiency in both front-end and back-end development with demonstrated experience applying software engineering best practices

  • Exposure across the conceptual quantum computing stack (applications, compilers, circuits, algorithms, and pulses) with deep knowledge of at least one of those areas

  • Practical experience in Quantum computing and related development technologies: Python (Qiskit), AWS Braket, Flask/Chalice, Jupyter notebooks etc

  • Experience programming with HTML, SS, JavaScript, Java, C++, Python, and/or Go

  • Deep understanding of application architecture design and AWS architectural principles and services; Strong ability on cloud formation and to write code; understanding of AWS core services

  • Experience working with DevOps automation tools & practices​; Knowledge of full software development life cycle (SDLC) including coding standards, code review, source control management; Understanding of a shared responsibility model in Operations

  • Deep understanding of unit, interface and end user testing concepts and tooling inclusive of non-functional requirements (performance, usability, reliability, security/vulnerability scanning, etc.) including how testing integrated into DevOps; Accessibility awareness

  • Experience with lower-level compiler and instrument control technologies

  • Experience of working with design thinking techniques in iterative sprints (Agile)

--Critical Thinking & Intellectual Curiosity: aptitude to understand a challenge or problem by analyzing a situation to successfully find a solution; demonstrates passion for Quantum computing; continuous learning mindset with demonstrated aptitude for understanding strategic investments and new technologies

--Outcome Management: demonstrated success of creating specific, measurable, and concrete objectives aligned with business goals by tracking and reporting outcomes over a specified time

--Adaptability: proven ability to adapt to new situations and respond effectively to unplanned changes

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $151,500.00 to $204,900.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
