Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Develop, prototype, build technology driven software products that will serve the current and future needs of Walmart connect AdTech platform using the latest technologies like spark with Scala, Spark streaming etc.

As a Software Engineer, you will lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.

About the Team

The core focus of the WMC teams is to develop and implement new innovative solutions for Walmart customers, which scales significantly with business demand and enhance Walmart cloud platforms.

Our team of software engineers are creating new frameworks to ingest Peta bytes of customer data from different channels in real time and batch to provide services to both onsite and offsite ad targeting. As aSoftware Engineer III, you'll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You'll oversee small project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist in providing technical leadership guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline.
  • Provide communications and support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies); researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short- and long-term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associate's domain.
  • Manage small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; researching and identifying alternative solutions; determining needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing;
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation.
  • Participate in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
  • Model compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.


About You:

You have and can implement big ideas with a positive attitude. You want to be a part of the team to disrupt this industry and you have these main skills:
  • Experience developing software features to streamline and scaling streaming and batch jobs to customer data refresh.
  • Experience enhancing or implementing new features using Spark with Scala/Java , Spark or Kafka streaming.
  • Experience implementing Docker for Containerization, and Kubernetes for orchestration.
  • Experience working with Big Data tools Hive , spark Sql etc...
  • Experience integrating with CI/CD with Looper and Concord.
  • Experience maintaining and improving existing codebases and peer review code changes
  • Experience documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.

Qualifications
  • BS degree or Higher in Computer Science
  • 3 years in software development, emerging technologies, integration, and data management.
  • Strong Software Engineering background is preferred.
  • Platform experience is highly desirable.
  • Sound business judgment as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize.
  • Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically.

The annual salary range for this position is $120,000.00-$170,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
