Actuarial Associate

Actuarial - ActuarialThe Long Term Care (LTC) actuarial team is seeking a motivated individual to join our Flex team. The role is a unique opportunity as an "internal consultant" on a small, close-knit team that works on virtually all facets of LTC. The Flex team supports the core LTC functions (e.g., Pricing, Assumptions), and also works with many other LTC business partners (valuation, projections, modeling, reporting, and oversight, plus non-actuarial partners like finance and operations).
The general goal of the team is to make the lives of our business partners easier. Some examples of how we seek to accomplish this are:
• Improving existing pricing and/or assumption development tools to be more efficient, more user friendly, and/or more flexible, etc.
• Developing new/replacement tools for a similar purpose
• Creation of metrics/reports
• Ad hoc requests from business
Specific projects for our internal LTC Actuarial partners (Pricing and Assumptions) include:
• Preparation of rate increase filings
• Analysis/exhibit creation for responding to questions from regulators
• Build/maintain models, reports and exhibits
• Managing correspondence with state regulators
• Developing policyholder benefit reduction options to dampen the impact of rate increases to policyholders
• Developing assumptions (data preparation, modeling, and analysis)
• Making presentations to LTC senior leadership and stakeholders
• Weekly Assumption Review Committee attendance
• Exposure to PolySystems implementation and assumption tables
This is a great opportunity for someone new to the actuarial field to work on a dynamic, fast-paced team, with broad subject matter and technical expertise from which to learn.
Location:
Hybrid with 2-3 days/week in Newark, NJ or Dresher, PA office
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science or related field required
• Passed a minimum of 1 actuarial exam, with commitment to continue towards actuarial credential
• Experience in some/all of MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, Visual Basic, Python.
• Strong desire to learn and grow both technical and leadership skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work closely with others (collaborate, give/receive/incorporate feedback)
• Detail oriented, with strong analytical and problem solving skills
• High level of self-motivation and ownership of results
