Senior Director II, Automation Engineering
Position Summary...
What you'll do...
Data and Digital Literacy: Leverages data analysis tools to explore highly complex data, develops and tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds and presents insights. Identifies, implements, and drives technology change within scope of work. Uses visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions.
Automation System Design: Promotes the usage of automation machineries. Participates in implementation and training. Conducts cost-benefit analyses of machineries. Monitors actual versus planned. Consults on the use of advanced machineries for automation of supply chain processes.Helps develop and implement long-range automation plans. Works with multi-function and automating machineries that perform multiple and complicated tasks enabling time reduction of supply chain processes.
Advanced Analytics: Evaluates the quality of data collected and the effectiveness of data analysis methods. Provides solutions to data requirements in the data analysis process. Tests and evaluates multiple solutions, methods, and models to determine accuracy, validity, and applicability.Establishes standards for the application and interpretation of statistical data. Analyzes complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies,and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models.
Continuous Improvement: Promotes continuous improvement that supports competitive advantages. Contributes to the advancement of industry standards in process excellence. Develops enhancements to product and service offerings based on continuous improvement of process capabilities.Promotes holistic or integrative thinking throughout the organization to strengthen collaboration. Mentors associates in the area of process control and improvement. Establishes critical processes and their controls.
Talent Management: Champions the implementation of appropriate technology and programs to support the talent management strategy. Develops the organization's talent management strategy and employment brand. Forecasts organizational talent needs and prospective imbalances in the supply and demand of skills. Promotes methods for growing internal talent. Creates defensible leadership development and succession plans and proactive diversity plans. Generates models for understanding the current and potential dynamics of the talent pipeline.
Operational Excellence: Coaches others to consider all major operational functions and cross-functional issues. Monitors industry trends, key players,and major competitors. Develops strategies accordingly. Leads evaluations of Walmart operating functions versus those of the industry. Consults with and advises all major functions. Educates others in operational strategies and the support needed for execution. Leads discussions on the evolution and impact of present and future technology. Guides and provides recommendations to peers and/or reports in operational execution and utilization o fOne Best Way documentation. Oversees safety and security procedures to ensure compliance. Sets and oversees all operational routines for departments and staff. Designs strategies to minimize process breakdowns/problems and safety risks within the organization.
Engineering Economics: Consults on all major financial analysis approaches and quantitative and qualitative measures. Predicts industry trends and potential impacts on the organization. Provides business case recommendations and detailed analysis on investment opportunities with technology vendors. Provides recommendations to others in interpreting and drawing reliable conclusions from industry financial data. Adapts financial analysis methods to support organizational goals. Champions the use of new technologies and tools for analyzing financial data.
Partnership and Collaboration: Collaborate with partners in the value chain to achieve working relationships and positive outcomes. Leads cross-functional business initiatives and encourages team members to cultivate relationships across the business. Facilitates cross-functional team thinking and brainstorming activities to collectively create and share ideas. Mechatronics: Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions. Creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views. Uses design and visualization to perform basic drafting (for example, wire frames, solid objects, array of objects). Flips and scales objects within drawings. Integrates multiple objects within the environment. Generates specifications for parts or components with design and visualization software. Participates in projects that modify existing electrical systems, equipment, and components. Assists in drawing circuit diagrams and defining electrical installation specifications.Operators Programmable Logic Controllers in order to communicate, monitor, and control automated processes (for example, assembly lines, machine functions, robotic devices). Performs the basic design, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems, equipment, and components.Analyzes the feasibility, design, strength, and performance of automation equipment. Conducts investigations into faulty machine operation,equipment failures, and difficulties. Follows guidelines, standards, and safety procedures in the mechanical design process. Participates in the designing, testing, implementing, monitoring, and repairing mechanical components.
Process Flow Design: Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of concepts and practices which occur across all supply chain facilities and processes. Demonstrates awareness of industry innovations, best practices, and activities for supply chain networks. Quantifies and discusses benefits and risks of various supply chain strategies and approaches. Demonstrates in-depth understanding with end-to-end supply chain flow and the ways in which processes can be impacted. Specifies problems in the implementation of sustainable supply chain approaches and develops solutions.Monitors methodology effectiveness in order to implement improvements. Plays a lead role in setting strategy and best practices for business process implementation. Updates management on industry trends and directions regarding business process design. Leads the design and implementation of business process methods and tools. Coaches colleagues on process design and reengineering. Consults with executives on business process design, redesign, and reengineering.
Project Management: Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects. Champions Walmart project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Monitors the industry for fresh approaches and tools for project management. Monitors major projects for critical paths and actual status versus planned. Governs open communication among project stakeholders. Builds a strategic roadmap that identifies and leverages synergies and manages multiple high-risk, high-cost projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Automation Integration: Combines knowledge of automation/system design and learning from previous implementations into a road map. Guides the resolution of integration issues. Identifies and quantifies risks of proposed alternatives to a system or technology integration initiative. Runs the integration and testing of upgrades, enhancements, and fixes. Designs and develops interfaces for multiple partners and platforms. Anticipates key problems and challenges for multi-system, multi-process integration. Implements planned and ad-hoc communications to and from affected parties.Ensures project problems are surfaced and reported to appropriate project personnel.
