Job Summary
Responsible for identifying complex problems and developing individual algorithms to solve them. Evaluates accuracy and functionality of individual algorithms and understands the overall implications of entire frameworks. Develops and tests prototypes and new products and applications to demonstrate functionality and transition algorithms to the Engineering team to put into production. Responsible for the initial design and implementation of future products and applications. Analyzes and evaluates solutions both internally generated as well as third party supplied. Develops novel ways to solve problems and discover new products, provide guidance and leadership to more junior researchers. Collaborates and influences immediate team members and collaborates cross functionally. Deciphers tasks into functional components and delegates to other members of the team. Job Summary

As a Sr. Broadband Engineer, you will design, develop, support, and apply your craft to test, trial, deploy, and troubleshoot HFC RF and optical infrastructure and participate in the development of industry-leading technologies to maximize broadband capacity.

Where can you make an impact?
Bring a combination of HFC infrastructure RF and Optical expertise along with DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 MAC Layer Physical Layer experience with troubleshooting protocols and performance on CMTS/OLT and CPE to design the next generation of 10G infrastructure and a critical adaptive network control system impacting millions of customers.
This critical role will develop HFC RF and optical infrastructure expanding and software-defined management of upstream, downstream, and FDX spectrum while contributing to operations and deployment strategies enabling the vision of multi-Gbps Symmetrical broadband. Troubleshoot and coordinate other engineers, technology partners, and division and regional technical resources with laboratory and field challenges based on knowledge of network infrastructure and CPE and GW behavior during trials of new technologies such as DOCSIS 3.1 OFDMA, D4.0 FDX, FTTH, and advanced spectrum management capabilities

Core Responsibilities
Evaluate and discover network RF design challenges and design innovative solutions to some key HFC challenges with the use of expanded and optimization of the existing upstream spectrum.
Build lab test systems and design field test plans to evaluate new RF and optical infrastructure designs including distributed access architecture, modifications to N+x traditional HFC infrastructure, and specify design and operations guidelines.
Work with data scientists and algorithm developers to develop operational platforms and analyze broadband performance characteristics.
Work with program and operations resources to execute field trials and network measurement campaigns.
Frequent meeting/communication with stakeholders to interpret their needs, plan/organize, and discuss progress and results.
Develop and communicate goals, strategies, tactics, project plans, timelines, and key performance metrics to reach goals.
Collaborate across teams with an open-minded perspective on new ideas with a creative contribution to new technology, architectures, and operational approaches. Inclusive sharing of ideas and data with all stakeholders. Inclined to act, and do whatever is needed to get the job done.
Skills & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in the following Computer Science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience preferred
5+ years working in broadband or wireless telecommunications including HFC and DOCSIS technology
Expertise in physical layer communication theory such as modulation profile and Forward Error Correction design.
Hands-on experience with HFC amplifier and optical infrastructure and CPE design, configuration, and deployment.
Well versed in Broadband, RF, and optical lab and field test and measurement equipment and techniques.
Familiarity with SCTE 55-1, 55-2 legacy video solutions, cumulative leakage index and detection, HFC passive performance, and other cable technologies is a plus.

Pay Range: $102,150.43 - $153,225.64
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
