Intern Job Description

As an Energy Data Analytics Intern in the TPX Energy Team, you will have the opportunity to learn and work with state-of-the-art data systems to build data sets to drive decisions that support energy efficiency and operational excellence. The Energy team is a small, fast-moving team of professionals that partners with several teams internally. We develop and test analytics tools that can help our colleagues make decisions that affect their energy consumption. We also lead research and development programs to advance our energy efficiency. We are a team that is committed to helping Comcast be a good corporate citizen while providing value to the organization.

Who will the intern work with?

The TPX Energy Analytics Intern will work with tools owners to ingest data, test functionality, and provide reports. We work with network engineers, building managers, finance teams, and our plant maintenance teams daily. We are a diverse team of engineers and IT personnel who solve complex business problems while supporting our colleagues. We work on pilot projects, data cleanup, and automation as part of the Chief Network Officer’s team at TPX.

What are some interesting problems the intern will work on?

In your role, you will bridge the gap between development and operations. You will provide user acceptance testing of tools and provide feedback on your experiences using our in-house developed technology. Provide requirements for functionality and generate reports based on energy data. Create metrics or scorecards that enable the tracking of energy projects. Develop measurement and verification programs to monitor program effectiveness.

You’ll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast while we map out our path to Carbon Neutral by 2035. You will develop tools, metrics, and reports that are repeatable and useful for future projects that drive energy efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides research and assistance to leadership in the development and testing of new energy tools.
  • Evaluate energy project through measurement and verification.
  • Provide quality assurance on energy data.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to manage large, complex data sets in excel, tableau, or other
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create data visuals that support recommendations
  • Document assumptions, methodologies, and processes

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university
  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023, Spring 2024, December 2024 or Spring 2025.
  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program
  • Recommended GPA: 3.0 (candidates will be evaluated on overall skills, education, and experience)

Base Pay: $32.00
