Engineering/Control Spec III
The Engineering/Controls Specialist III is responsible for global management and maintenance of all heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanical components, building automation systems (BAS) and direct digital controls (DDC). Additional responsibilities include coordinating process improvements for building HVAC systems management, energy conservation and DDC strategies.
Essential Job Duties:
Oversee cross-site management of the BAS and/or environmental monitoring (EM) systems.
*Manage system databases and documentation of according to GxP and computer validation requirements.
*Prepare standard operation procedures related to BAS/EM operations.
*Review client audit findings related to BAS/EM operations. Serve as representative during client visits to answer questions related to BAS/EM systems and SOPs
Interface with Information Technology staff to diagnose and troubleshoot server and network problems.
Troubleshoot system errors and local system (e.g., DDC, HVAC) malfunctions with IT, HVAC mechanics, site controls specialists and vendors.
Monitor and operate DDC system at remote sites that do not have controls specialists on staff.
Oversee programming and modifications to BAS/EM applications.
Develop graphics, reports and histories in BAS for HVAC equipment and systems.
Identify and develop improvements in the use of existing software.
Identify and develop energy management solutions to be used cross-site.
Works with site administrators to create, provide and implement e-training for the cross-site BAS/EM programs.
Provide monthly report.
Maintain control wiring diagrams from all cross-site facilities.
Recognizes process improvement opportunities and solves problems cross-site.
Experience:
Minimum Required:
10 to 15 years of experience in HVAC and DDC systems operation, preferably in large facilities.
Knowledge of all building systems, reading schematics and blueprints, record keeping, math and other areas as specified.
Experience with computer system validation and 21CFR Part 11 requirements.
Ability to accurately read and record information.
Capacity to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to lead a project team to completion of a given task.
Recommended:
College or trade school courses in HVAC operation, DDC systems (preferably Metasys or Honeywell) and/or mechanical systems operation.
Ability to diagnose HVAC problems and perform corrective actions to maintain environmental conditions for a specific facility using a BAS.
Advanced computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and relational databases (e.g., Sequel Server, Oracle).
Ability to program DDC system databases and manage computer system security functionality
