National Director, Health Systems (Oncology)

Primary Job Duties

Strategy and Partnership Development – 40%

Develop strategic partnerships with senior level executives (CEO/CLO/COO/CMO/CNO/Quality) to develop mutually beneficial oncology business relationships and partnerships within assigned market segment.

Oncology Business Owner of established GPO accounts (Vizient, Premier, HealthTrust), including, but not limited to, performance of account reviews, maintenance cadence, established process for account performance measurement. This also includes setting up overall account strategy, and negotiations on contracting and key business points on the contract.

Adhere to National Contracting strategy, prepare and present business cases to legal when appropriate, conduct ROI assessments and scenario planning, and ensure contract and data agreements for all national oncology accounts.

Customer Centric – 20%

Gain access to industry thought leaders through providing value in sharing a knowledge base on technical updates for oncology guidelines and industry changes.

Consultative selling should be an approach utilized to drive a partnership that establishes reciprocal value.

Support national networking events with highly influential affiliations to solidify a strong oncology & pathology market presence.

Stakeholder Manager – 20%

High degree of influencing internal and external stakeholders to gain buy-in on the Labcorp Oncology vision as a trusted advisor. This should be done in collaboration with SVP of HHS, Labcorp GPO VP, Commercial Divisional Senior Leadership team, Labcorp Oncology leadership, strategy, operations, marketing teams, and Labcorp Drug Development to build a deep rapport with influential customers.

Routinely prepare internal presentations to provide updates on strategies and milestones on oncology performance for executive review. The goal of the presentation is to gain support for roadblocks, solicit feedback, and provide transparency to align as an enterprise.

Act as the point person for key divisional and national RFIs and RFPs. Organize various internal resources (business, pricing, scientific, legal, data, etc) to create and finalize a comprehensive proposal. In instances where the division is the lead on the proposal, the National Director will act as a support for strategy and guidance.

Executive Presence -10%

Ability for individual to represent themselves and the organization in a professional and polished manner.

Maintain a high level of emotional intelligence; composure and self-awareness are imperative.

A high degree of competence to deliver a clear, articulate, and concise message.

For large presentations, their style should be well prepared and exude confidence, be knowledgeable, and well poised.

  • Lab Industry or Lab related knowledge and experience
  • Healthcare sales experience
  • 10 years minimum executive selling experience
  • CRM package usage


  • Advanced degree MA or MBA preferred
