Description

Leidos is looking for a Law Clerk I to work in support of the Civil Rights Division. Do you have experience with legal review, legal writings, or legal publications? If so, this is the position for you! This is a hybrid position (1 day/week on site and 4 days/week remote), but will require travel to the customer site in Washington, D.C. as requested.

Responsibilities Include:

• Work under the direction of a Project Manager. Performs complex legal research for the CAO staff.

• Review and conduct research for ROI (Release of Information)

• Review new cases and conducts research of pertinent laws

• Edit previously submitted final decisions and writes/researches legal opinions on newest case

• Edit and review cases for issuance

• Respond to citizen letters

• Review AMICUS briefs

• Brief attorneys regarding legal issues, theories and draft statement of facts

A writing sample will be required for consideration.

Required Qualifications:

• Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience.

• Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

• Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Public Trust.

• Extensive Cite Checking / Blue Booking Experience

• Must have advanced legal writing skills.

• Ability to consistently deliver highest quality of work under extreme pressure will be very important.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Publication of legal writings

• Participation in Law Review

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as the minimum Health and Welfare benefit. Leidos will ensure that all provisions are met through their wages and benefits. The pay for this position will be $35.35/hr.
