The Mainframe ENDEVOR Systems Engineer/Subject Matter Expert (SME) to recommend best practices and develop guidelines to assist in two service capacities “engineering” and “consulting” (engineering is defined as hands on work and consulting is defined as planning and design in technical role).

Foundation for Success (Basic Qualifications):
This experience is the foundation a candidate needs to be successful in this position:
- 10 years of experience or more as a Mainframe Systems Engineer
- 5 years of experience with Broadcom ENDEVOR application
- 5 years of experience with IBM SMP/E to perform mainframe software installation and maintenance
- 5 years of experience with mainframe tools such as RMF, SMF, IPCS, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, SYSLOGs, etc., to resolve software problems
- 5 years of experience with writing and debugging JCL and REXX/CLISTs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Provides expert analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of systems control software including operating systems, multi-user utilities, locally prepared subroutines, and intercomputer communications and vendor proprietary software for the mainframe environment.
- Provides expert technical analysis for problem determination and coordination of mainframe systems and mainframe software problems, employs problem analysis and resolution techniques, and analyzes the most difficult problems and determines the most effective methods of resolution.
- Review and assess existing standards and policies in order to initiate and coordinate necessary revisions, deletions, or improvements.
- Designs major extensions and enhancements to mainframe operating systems software to support current, revised and new functional requirements.
- Designs, develops, implements, and supports automated management techniques, enhancements, and procedures for operations, job scheduling, and storage media for mainframe environments.
- Provides expert advice to systems components on technical capabilities and limitations, developments, and other matters related to mainframe operating system software.
- Provides expert technical support to computer operations and applications programming personnel.
- Prepares and presents oral and written recommendations to management on the feasibility of implementing new or revised operating systems software. Develops supporting documentation materials for the justification and acquisition of operating systems software.
- Plans for and directs the development of benchmarks, pilot studies and validation procedures for new or revised mainframe operating systems software.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $118,300.00 - $182,000.00 - $245,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
