Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a Monitoring System Administrator to support a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD. The Enterprise Monitoring System Administrator is responsible for the operations and maintenance of existing enterprise monitoring solutions spanning multiple enclaves. System Administrators will also provide assistance to customer engineers in the development of requirements and design validation for future monitoring solutions. Duties include validating the health of monitoring agents on end devices, maintaining the central monitoring solution on each network, and communication between alerting platforms and the monitor of monitors. This individual will work in a team environment to ensure mission needs are met and ensure functionality of capabilities to customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of enterprise monitoring solutions and related services.

  • Maintain the infrastructure services enterprise monitoring systems and communication between alerting platforms and the monitor of monitors.

  • Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop solutions, and implement monitoring strategies based on existing incident tickets or customer requirements.

  • Establish comprehensive availability and capacity management solution using lessons learned

  • Develop solutions to technical issues.

  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for root cause analysis, engineering technical assessment and process improvement initiatives.

  • Utilize Solarwinds tools to support customer requirements in a 24/7/365 mission environment.

  • Update operations and maintenance documentation and provide familiarization training on new capabilities for 24/7/365 IT monitoring/watch personnel.

  • Conduct Windows Operating System patch management and troubleshooting.

  • Conduct application upgrades, configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Support after-hours maintenance schedules on a monthly/bi-monthly basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with interacting with Service Owners/Managers and System Administrators to handle service inquiries and problems.

  • Experience working as a Tier 2 System Administrator: familiar with using desktop software applications such as web browsing and client software, and IT Service Management software.

  • Experience with utilizing/managing/configuring centralized monitoring solutions based on SolarWinds and Splunk.

  • Knowledge of IC IT standards and best practices.

  • Experience troubleshooting issues in a growing enterprise environment.

  • Experience with day-to-day management and maintenance of enterprise monitoring solutions.

  • Experience with tailoring/tuning monitoring dashboards based on customer/user requirements.

  • Experience with working with customers to develop a system-specific monitoring strategy and implementing the solution in an operational system.

  • Experience with log reviews, incident analysis, and identification of issue trends.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks without direct supervision.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

  • Track record of working effectively within a team, and amongst teams to improve existing processes and procedures.

  • Familiarity with incident/change management ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.

  • Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SolarWinds Server and Application Monitoring experience.

  • Experience incorporating SolarWinds alerts with Splunk Enterprise and Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI)

  • Experience creating Splunk ITSI dashboards and tuning alert thresholds based on service owner requirements.

  • Knowledge of incorporating Dell EMC storage system monitoring into a centralized enterprise monitoring solution.

  • Knowledge of incorporating VMware, Hyper-V or other virtualization system monitoring into a centralized enterprise monitoring solution.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience

  • Education equivalency of Associate’s with 6 years of related experience or High School Diploma with 8 years of related experience can be used in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.

Security Clearance:

  • Due to the nature of the government contracts we support, US Citizenship is required.

  • TS/SCI with Poly is required for this position or a TS/SCI and willingness to get a Poly.

  • Splunk Core Certified (User, Power User, or Advanced Power User)

  • Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin

  • Splunk IT Service Intelligence

  • ITIL Foundation

Pay Range:

Pay Range $54,600.00 - $84,000.00 - $113,400.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
