Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Program Development, Assessment, and Distance Learning works closely with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to provide intellectual leadership for all academic units at the University. The Assistant VC compiles the annual University catalog, works with academic units to develop new programs, prepares and submits all academic affairs reports to the Arkansas Division of Higher Education (ADHE). The Assistant VC also prepares reports for the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees. The Assistant VC assures compliance with legislative and ADHE acts and policies that are relevant to academic programs; coordinates program reviews, approvals, and accreditation activities; chairs the University Assessment Committee; and is a member of the HLC Steering Committee. The Assistant VC is responsible for compliance with authorization to offer distance education courses to students in other states and perform special projects and other duties assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Qualifications:
A master’s degree with higher education experience required. Commitment to a "student centered" mission is necessary. Understanding assessment of academic programs following HLC guidelines is required. Requires strong leadership, written/oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills with broad knowledge of administrative functions including strategic planning, student advisement and assessment, program planning, and curriculum development.
