Senior Counsel AP1000

We are looking for a Senior Counsel - AP 1000, to join the Energy Systems legal team! The Energy Systems legal team is responsible for supporting business initiatives throughout the world. We provide legal support for our colleagues in various functional areas. This opportunity will provide legal support focused on our growing AP1000 technology. We will support a hybrid/mobile or US Remote candidate for this role. There will be domestic and international travel required for business collaboration as needed.
The Senior Counsel - AP 1000, will work with other in-house and outside counsel as well as members of our contracts and compliance groups to act as a strategic partner to the Energy Systems business unit, support the offer development process, and support project execution and disputes. The lawyer should expect to interface with the project teams, commercial operations, corporate center functions, and various other organizations within Westinghouse, as well as its customers, vendors and partners.
Your Day to Day:
• Identifying risk to the enterprise and devising ways to mitigate or eliminate such risk while achieving business objectives.
• Reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating governmental contracts, commercial agreements, including, EPC agreements, supply agreements, technical services contracts, nondisclosure agreements, software licensing, development agreements, financing agreements, acquisition agreements, divestiture agreements and strategic corporate alliances.
• Drafting terms of complex, large project customer contracts based on NEC 3, NEC4, FIDIC (silver, yellow and green book), Orgalime terms and translation of prime contract sales terms as appropriate to suppliers and vendors. Experience in developing supply chain master or blanket agreements for critical long lead material procurements.
• Draft and negotiate complex negotiations with domestic and international customers and suppliers.
• Advise management and executive leadership on legal risks associated with business transactions.
• Collaborate in order to partner with internal project management groups and business teams to achieve corporate objectives.
• Recognition of regulatory compliance issues and the ability to train and advise management on compliance efforts and risk mitigation.
Who You Are:
• Juris Doctorate Degree with 8-10 years’ experience with a majority in EPC projects in either Energy, or Oil & Gas, or major Infrastructures sector
• Legal experience in the European market and knowledge of nuclear sector is a plus
• Membership in local bar, with good standing
• A track record of successful navigation of corporate procedure and governance in the achievement of business objectives.
