If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, Fuel Engineering is looking for a new graduate/early career Radiochemistry Analysis Engineer to join the Product Performance Engineering team.
Your Day-to-Day
- Perform and support Radiochemistry/Coolant Activity analysis work for US and international Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) customers, following approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes while maintaining focus on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work.
- Radiochemistry/Coolant Activity Analyses support continued plant operations by tracking and analyzing fission product activity levels in the primary coolant to determine the quantitative properties of operating/irradiated fuel.
- Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and verify evaluations and analyses performed by others.
- Support emergent issues and interface with our customer base and other functional groups within Westinghouse to support safe plant operation.
- Provide customer support during plant startup, normal operations, and shutdown conditions, and assist in resolving emergent and industry identified issues.
- Participate in introductory training focused on radiochemistry/coolant activity analyses and fuel performance.
- Provide technical knowledge to support development of fuel performance models, methods, and planned software code upgrades for new fuel products, including cladding, fuel materials, and higher burnup/enrichment fuel.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or Chemical Engineering or recognized equivalent required
- General knowledge of nuclear reactor physics and theory required
- General knowledge of radiochemistry and balance of plant preferred
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment
- Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international customer sites if required
